Thinking about a getaway? In need of a little rest and relaxation? How about a healing yoga retreat that combines time away with a healthy serving of yoga and relaxation? There’s no need to go far. Check out the list below for options in Maine and one in Western Massachusetts that will help you get your “ohm” on. And be sure to also check with your local yoga studio. Many studios offer special retreats throughout the year, both in Maine and in warmer climates.
Sewall House Yoga Retreat
Tucked away in Island Falls, Maine, Sewall House offers the opportunity to truly get away from it all, without leaving Maine They offer yoga retreats from May through October and welcome everyone from beginners to advance practitioners. All inclusive accommodation includes three wholesome vegetarian meals, along with daily yoga and meditation classes. Baxter State Park, Mount Katahdin and the Canadian border are located nearby, for downtime exploration.
Wicked Good Yoga + Snow Squall Inn
The owners of bed & breakfast, Snow Squall Inn, just so happen to also own the neighboring Wicked Good Yoga studio, creating a perfect year round make- your-own yoga retreat opportunity in beautiful Wiscasset, Maine. Enjoy a full breakfast served from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. at Snow Squall before heading over for a range of Baptiste-inspired vinyasa classes, with heated and unheated options. Rolling Meadows
Rolling Meadows offers a full yearly schedule of silent small group retreats in a fully restored 1840s New England farmhouse in Friendship, Maine, in addition to retreats in Vermont, India, Italy, Guatemala and Mexico. They serve vegetarian meals, much of which comes from the organic gardens on the property in season. Start the day with morning tea, meditation and breathwork, with a daily afternoon yoga session and evening meditation.
Nurture Through Nature
Nestled at the base of Pleasant Mountain in Denmark, Maine, this solar-powered and off-grid retreat center has been hosting classes and retreats at their mountainside location since 1999. Rent an eco-cabin, stay in a rustic yurt or stake a tent. You can join an organized retreat program or sign up for classes a la carte. Public and private options are available, including a monthly community session at their wood-fired sauna. An assortment of healing arts services and onsite trails complete the experience.
Maine Yoga Adventures
Choose from yoga outings close to home or further abroad with Maine Yoga Adventures in Orono, Maine. 2024 summer programing includes yoga in Orono’s Webster Park every Wednesday, paddleboard yoga, hiking in Adirondacks, volunteering in Puerto Rico and a Copenhagen excursion. Retreat prices include lodging and 1-2 vegetarian meals a day; participants must purchase their own transportation.
Forever Wild Yoga
While their studio is based in Brunswick, Forever Wild Yoga travels across Maine to offer retreats including accomodation and meals by a private chef. Choose from packages that combine yoga with canoeing, hiking, stand-up-paddleboarding and snowshoeing, or create a custom retreat—including bridal party retreats at the location of your choice.
Santosha at Hillholm Estate
Stay at Hillholm, a Gilded Age estate in Kingfield, Maine nestled between quiet woods and the Carrabbasset River, for daily yoga, meditation and dharma talks. Enjoy family-style meals with local and in-season ingredients; choose between omnivore, pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan menus.
Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health
New England’s quintessential yoga retreat destination for more than 40 years, Kripalu offers an assortment of programs and make-your-own yoga, meditation, health and wellness retreats at its center in the Berkshires, Massachusetts. It is the largest yoga retreat center in North America.
